A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards is a cautionary tale written in a time of turmoil in the Christian community. Many Christians found their faith shaken when many religious leaders were proven to be someone other than who they portrayed themselves to be. Gene Edwards fictionalizes several stories from the Bible in order to guide these lost Christians and help them find their way back to their faith. A Tale of Three Kings is not only a cautionary tale, but hope presented in a modern retelling of favorite stories.

The premise of this book is that there are three types of leaders: Saul, David, and Absalom. Each have experienced pain, betrayal, and loss at the hands of believers just as we have or will experienced. The book offers us comfort and hope and raises the question about our own leadership are we a Saul, David, or Absalom???
When reading about Samuel Saul and David the realization that these men were not made up is due to the fact that they were so complex as real people are complex. as well it was a nice time of reflection in asking ourselves are we being like a Saul or a David in different seasons or situations in our lives. These men were used by God and at the same time rebelled against God and through there lives gives do's and don'ts in our walk with God.
